BIM Revit Structural Modelling will impart the knowledge and skills for aspiring professionals in the Built Environment for BIM Project. It’s WSQ, SSG funded.

Course Overview

Projects-based BIM Revit Structural Modelling will impart the knowledge and skills for aspiring and existing professionals in the Built Environment to start a new structural BIM project, load an existing project and work in a collaborative manner across model disciplines to create a full structural model that meet technical specifications.

Learners will also learn how to extract and present structural data and documentation for use across the construction value chain. This is a course tailored for Built Environment professionals who are required to draw and model structure elements in Revit, thus enabling them to participate in and build on one of the keystones in the digital workflow for a construction project.

Course Curriculum

  • LO1: Read and visualize structural elements and drawings

  • LO2: Create structural model using structural templates, external CAD drawings, and BIM reference files

  • LO3: Apply BIM strategies and techniques to create structural foundations such as piles and pile caps

  • LO4: Place and modify structural foundations such as piles and pile caps

  • LO5: Generate schedule to facilitate calculation of piles’ pay lengths

  • LO6: Apply BIM strategies and techniques to create concrete structural elements such as columns, slabs, and beams

  • LO7: Place and modify concrete structural elements such as columns, slabs, and beams

  • LO8: Apply BIM strategies and techniques to create steel structural elements such as columns, beams, and trusses

  • LO9: Place and modify steel structural elements such as columns, beams, and trusses

  • LO10: Construct a parametric structural framing such as a haunched beam

  • LO11: Produce piling and pile caps layouts in accordance with relevant structural standards

  • LO12: Generate customized tagging of piles and pile caps for specification purposes

  • LO13: Place piles and pile caps in title block
