Projects-based BIM Revit Fire Protection Modelling

In this course, learners will build on their fundamental knowledge from Revit Basic, and focus on key functions of Revit for creating FP models.

Course Overview

Projects-based BIM Revit Fire Protection Modelling will impart the knowledge and skills for aspiring and existing professionals in the Built Environment to create Fire Protection (FP) Building Information Modelling (BIM) models and detail drawings in Revit.

In this course, learners will build on their fundamental knowledge from Revit Basic, and focus on key functions of Revit for creating FP models. They will learn to establish the settings of a few FP model file, create fire protection components and layouts, and create custom FP elements. Learners will then generate schedules and views from their FP models for the preparation of shop drawings or BIM e-submission.

Course Curriculum

  • LO1: Read and visualise fire protection systems, elements, and technical drawings

  • LO2: Set-up configurations for fire protection model files.

  • LO3: Establish mechanical settings for pipes, properties, and routing preference based on fire protection specification

  • LO4: Create a parametric sprinkler head with pipe connectors

  • LO5: Place and modify sprinkler head based on the required specification and location

  • LO6: Create fire alarm bell, manual call point, and hose reel family with pipe connector based on the required design and dimension

  • LO7: Load, place, and modify fire alarm bell, manual call point, and hose reel family with pipe connect-or based on the required specification and location

  • LO8: Create and modify sprinkler piping layout based on the required specification and routing

  • LO9: Conduct checks and testing of fire protection system

  • LO10: Generate a schedule of sprinklers for technical specification purposes

  • LO11: Create 2D and 3D fire protection views from BIM model in accordance with the Code of Practice for BIM e-Submission for Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing Requirements

  • LO12: Generate customised tagging of Sprinkler pipes for specification purposes

  • LO13: Place fire protection views in title block
