Course Overview
Projects-based BIM Revit Electrical Modelling will impart the knowledge and skills for aspiring and existing professionals in the Built Environment to create Electrical Building Information Modelling (BIM) models and detail drawings in Revit.
In this course, learners will build on their fundamental knowledge from Revit Basic, and focus on key functions of Revit for creating electrical models. They will learn to establish the settings of a new electrical model file, create electrical fixtures and layouts, and create custom electrical families. Learners will then generate schedules and views from their electrical models for the preparation of shop drawings or BIM e-submission.
Course Curriculum
LO1: Read and visualise electrical systems and equipment drawings
LO2: Set-up configurations for electrical model files
LO3: Establish electrical settings for cable tray angles, voltage definition and distribution systems, properties and routing preference based on standard specification
LO4: Load, place, and modify lighting fixtures
LO5: Create and modify electrical circuits based on the required specification
LO6: Create and modify cable containment routing based on the required specification and location
LO7: Conduct checks and testing of electrical systems
LO8: Create Lighting Switch and Distribution Board families with electrical connectors
LO9: Create a parametric L-Bracket with Rod Support family
LO10: Generate a schedule of Lighting Fixtures for technical specification purposes
LO11: Create 2D and 3D Electrical views from BIM model in accordance with the Code of Practice for BIM e-Submission for Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing Requirements
LO12: Generate customised tagging of Cable Containment for specification purposes
LO13: Place electrical model views in title block
