Course Overview
Projects-based BIM OpenPlant Modeler and P&ID Training will impart the necessary knowledge and skills for aspiring and existing Built Environment professionals to create technical designs/drawings in OpenPlant Modeler and OpenPlant Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID). Learners will read and visualise plant facility drawings, understand the operation and interface of OpenPlant, set up a new project, model plant components, and equipment, and generate BIM documentation for submission.
Course Curriculum
LO1. Read and understand plant facility drawings and instruments
LO2. Set-up a new P&ID project
LO3. Place equipment and nozzles in OpenPlant P&ID
LO4. Create pipeline and pipe run in OpenPlant P&ID
LO5. Create inline and online components
LO6. Create annotations and connectors
LO7. Validate and publish P&ID model
LO8. Set-up a new project in OpenPlant Modeler
LO9. Model plant equipment such as pumps, exchanges, and nozzles
LO10. Model pipes, its components and fittings
LO11. Check for pipe connectivity
LO12. Conduct clash detection on plant design
LO13. Create custom plant equipment in OpenPlant Modeler
LO14. Generate bill of quantity from OpenPlant model
LO15. Develop 2D drawings from OpenPlant model.
LO16. Create i-model from OpenPlant Modeler
Course Relevance To Employment
OpenPlant is one of the commonly used tools by contractors and consultant firms of Singapore’s Built Environment who participate in utility projects, such as the Tuas Water Reclamation Plant and Deep Tunnel Sewerage System (DTSS) Phase 2.
Suitable for practitioners who are involved in the creation and management of information-rich 3D plant models.

Assessment
At the end of this course, learners will go through an assessment.
Learners who achieve the Course Completion Requirements will be accorded a WSQ certificate.
Entry Requirements
Recommended for individuals with at least a Diploma in relevant course of study (i.e. engineering / architecture / green building & sustainability / any built-environment related course
English language proficiency at GCE ‘O’ level of C6 and above, or WSQ Workplace Literacy skills of Level 6 and above.
Proficient with the use of a Windows-based computer for work.
Completed Ace Industrial Academy’s Projects-based 2D and 3D MicroStation Training for Built Environment Professionals course or its equivalent.
No prior working experience required*.
*Learners who do not qualify in terms of education but have at least one year working experience in the Built Environment will be admitted on a case-by-case basis.
